Peter the caterpillar

by Georgia Lohan

Once upon a time there was a caterpillar who lived in his own unique way. His name was Peter. Everybody thought that he was too mysterious and that his beliefs were too unrealistic. Peter’s belief was: Do not rest until you become your best self!

One day he decided to compete in a running race, even though he wasn’t the most athletic caterpillar. Most of the others even called him chubby, unattractive, and good for nothing. Still, he believed in himself!

When the competition day came, Peter wore a funny t-shirt with the following words on his back: Under transformation. Do not disturb!

Surprisingly for his competitors, who were exceptionally trained caterpillars and even world champions, our caterpillar Peter was the first one to cross the finish line. Everybody thought that he was a cheater and wanted to know his secret, but it was very simple! Peter, the amazing caterpillar, had tiny ears and couldn’t hear well and could not hear the critical opinions of the others. So after this big victory, his new friends said, “You have changed a lot,” but they were wrong! Peter had not changed! He had only become a better version of himself when he became the marvelous butterfly he had always dreamed he would be!

Sometimes you have to pretend that your ears are very small and just listen to your intuition in order to become a champion!

Thank you so mcuh Adele! I really hope that you children will enjoy it! Please, ask them if they would like a part 2 of the story! Maybe, Peter can find a friend and explore a new world together! I also recommend you to check the section HAPPY BUBBLES , where Sam Osmond, a talented artist, created a crochet pattern for Peter! I hope you will find it lovely! Sending all my appreciation to you !

  1. It’s one of the best stories I have ever read! It inspires everyone to pursue their dreams without paying attention to others’ criticism. Your story reminded me of a few pieces of advice that a Romanian painter had given me this week. He told me that some people criticize others out of envy and jealousy, and that I should follow my instinct and believe in myself instead of listening to the negative people. I enjoyed talking to another artist even if he was a talented painter and I’m a poet (at the beginner’s level for now). Keep on writing, Georgia!
